Tips on Wall Decor for Your Home

by Michelle West

When you are looking to decorate your home you want to make sure you don't forget to add some great decor to the walls. If you spend all of your time making sure you have the right area rugs, the right decorative cushions, and the right centerpieces, but you don't decorate the walls properly, then the look of the home can fall flat. Here are some of the things that you should think about when it comes to your home's wall decor products.

Include personalized decor

Along with decor that helps to pull the look of the rest of the decor together, you are also going to want to include some things that are personalized, to add a more charming feel to the home that brings the family into the decor. For example, you want to make sure there are some family photos on some of the walls. Keep in mind, they can be put in frames that match the other artwork and photographs, so the overall look of the home is consistent.

Don't get caught up in being too even

One of the mistakes some people make is they get too caught up in everything being perfect. They want to make sure the pictures are all hung to be even with one another and that there are the same number of pictures on each level. Instead, you will find that a wall can look fantastic when you hang the decor in a more sporadic manner. As long as you don't have one side looking much heavier with decor than the other, this way of decorating the walls can work out best.

Don't leave a wall bare

You don't need to have a lot of wall decor on every wall, but you shouldn't have any full walls in the home that are completely bare or they can become the focal point of the room for the wrong reason. If you aren't sure what to do with a wall yet, then you can hang one large piece of art on the wall for now, or even use it to display a large clock. Once you have a better idea of how you want to decorate the wall, then you can make the changes. You should always be on the lookout for great pieces of decor from local shops, like A Little Country Store, that you can add to your home. You can replace pieces that were more of placeholders and soon your home will look fabulous.
